The wider objective is to develop internationally recognised educational standards and qualificationrequirements in new BSc/MSc studies in biotechnology in Agriculture and Food in the framework of the goals of higher education reform in the partner universities.the specific project objectives are to restructure the curricula for new BSc/MSc studies and to establish these curricula in strategic fields covering technical, economical and managerial specialisation and learning objectives. The project aims at defining the programme structures, elaborating sylllabi contents, preparing course material, organising staff training and assisst in putting into operation the start-up phase of the first BSc/MSc courses in biotechnology. The project application complies with the Tempus priorities of all partner universities. It also complies with the objectives of higher education there in terms of adoption of BSc/MSc studies according to the European standards. The development and implementation of new BSc/MSc courses in biotechnology complies not only with the reform efforts undertaken at the partner universities but it is also a necessary and consecutive step of the former and ongoing processes for curricula development in agriculture and food. The present application BSc/MSc studies in biotechnology is a continuation of the process started and it can contribute to the sustainable development of a modern higher agricultural education in the partner countries according to the Bologna process. Life sciences and biotechnology have a big potential in the partner universities for the ongoing reform process in agriculture and food and for new wealth creation, offering the kind of skill-based jobs that sustain knowledge based economies.
